Product Overview

1937 Australia King George VI Crown Silver Coin

- 92.5% Pure Silver
- One Crown - Five Shillings

Issued in 1937 to mark the coronation of King George VI, the One Crown or Five Shillings coin was issued again in 1938.

Each coin is struck from 28.27grams of 92.5% pure silver and features King George VI on the obverse with a crown design on the reverse.

Casey's Cartwheels was the nick-name given to these large silver five shillings after Lord Casey - Treasurer of Australia issued these for circulation. Being so heavy they weren't well received by the general public so they only lasted for two years.
